5 Ways to Self Love

Learning how to self-love is one of the most powerful lessons a woman can learn and here are 5 helpful tips on how:

  • Find Yourself.  Learn to listen to your feelings, trust yourself, and be kind and compassionate to yourself. Take a moment to reflect and carve out some solo time. By looking back we can sometimes make sense of life and as Steve Jobs said “we get in touch with who we really are and our higher self who has all the answers we seek.”  Often times we are so focused on who we want to be or who we think we should be therefore being too hard on ourselves.  Whether that thought is based on societal pressures, or pressures from family its important to realize that you are wonderfully made and to find comfort in who you are.  The journey won’t be easy and might even take awhile, but it will be well worth the wait.

  • Accept your flaws.  Perhaps the hardest part throughout the process of finding yourself is realizing that everything that glitters isn’t gold- and that’s okay.  Everyone has flaws, and it doesn’t make you any less of a person but may make you a better person. These flaws can build character and strength especially when you become comfortable enough to flaunt and embrace them.

  • Know your worth.  Once you’ve figured who you are it’s time you know your worth and value from others to make sure that you are never treated any less than you deserve to be and never accept less than what you deserve.  Part of self-love is maintaining a positive environment, attitude and being around people that truly have your best interest at heart. Take time to pamper and treat yourself like a queen and never stop telling yourself that you are kind, smart, loved, beautiful and important.

  • Surround yourself with positivity.  One of the greatest things to do is keep yourself motivated and surrounded with positive people. You will be amazed at the power of service and the positive energy you receive by helping others.  Keeping and maintaining a positive environment is essential.  Whether that’s playing music, volunteering, staying active through your favorite sport or yoga, cooking or whatever your favorite hobby is.

  • Repeat.  This process will not just be a one-time thing.  Loving yourself is ongoing and continuous throughout life.  Life throws a lot of curve balls and it’s important that throughout them all you remind yourself of who you are and why you love yourself.  Creating a list of your favorite characteristics about yourself might be helpful to create for times in which you feel depressed or down.
